This is a nice piece of Hellhammer history to own, because it's a rare compilation of sorts of two demo's that were recorded in one weekend back in the summer in July of 1983. This compilation of demo work features a lot of Hellhammer songs that have never seen the light of day on any official recordings of theirs nor in the days of Celtic Frost either. Which is a dreadful shame because a lot of these songs that are unreleased, are very strong and catchy tunes that could have been pivotal to a great album in the future.
These demos have fairly decent sound to them, considering the time they were originally created. A lot of bands used 8 track recorders to make demos and you couldn't really hear anything essential hardly in anything they did at that point on a demo back then. Luckily Hellhammer did not record on those though. If you can by some chance purchase this, it is worth hearing and worth the money to spend on. It's a piece of essential history for one of underground Metal's most essential bands in the movement to Death Metal and Black Metal in the 80's and early 90's. Overall though the songs are very tolerable to listen to, to say the least and if you can listen to the official releases of Hellhammer's then you can easily listen to this then, there's roughly maybe only one or two steps literally in how they sound in a comparison. This also features one of Hellhamemr's driving pioneer members from the early days on the bass in vocals in Steve Warrior. You also get in the liner notes a small comprehensive report of how the band started and how and where Tom Warrior got the master influence for their sound. A great release this is to truly own for any big Hellhammer fan such as myself. (Sadistikal)
