This is the debut release of one of Stijn Van Cauter’s many projects and bands; this one is entitled “Dreams of Dying Stars.” The band name alone should immediately inform you that this particular project has more of a focal point the astral subjects than any other topic.
I have always enjoyed Stijn Van Cauter’s projects, and this one is no exception. In his typical vein, the music is minimalistic and atmospheric, echoing dreamily along star passages and sailing past undiscovered moons. This project is exceptionally dreamy and relaxing Dark Ambient music. There is nothing particularly haunting, unlike some of his projects, but there is the projected image of distant galaxies presented in soft and sensational keyboard ambience. Like most Dark Ambient music, this is not foreground music that you focus your ears on listening to, but it is an extraordinary atmospheric background piece to soothe your mind or drift away with.
In summary, this is exceptional work yet again by Stijn Van Cauter, I can find no flaw with this album. This is highly recommended for Dark Ambient fans or fans of Stijn Van Cauter’s work in general. (Loki)
